Hawaiian Roll French Toast Bake

Hawaiian Roll French Toast Bake

A delightful and sweet Hawaiian Roll French Toast Bake that’s perfect for brunch gatherings or cozy family breakfasts, featuring a soft and fluffy texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Optional: butter pats for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter.
  2. Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half and layer them in the prepared baking dish, placing the cut sides up.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the rolls in the baking dish, ensuring all pieces are coated. Use a spatula to gently press down the rolls to help them absorb the liquid.
  5. Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the rolls.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the French toast is golden brown and set.
  7. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
  8. Serve warm with maple syrup and additional butter if desired.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in chocolate chips or diced fruits between the layers of rolls before pouring the egg mixture. This dish can be prepared the night before and refrigerated overnight for an easy morning bake; just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if it’s cold from the fridge.
